As a lecturer in the Computing framework I am involved in leading units such as Games (Year 2 unit) and Digital Media And Games (Year 4 Unit) which encompass topics such as graphics API programming (using OpenGL), low polygon 3D modelling (using 3D Studio Max), texturing for games, character animation, technical animation scripting (using MaxScript) and game level design (using UnrealEd). I am also performing supervisory duties for final year projects in related areas. Finally, I am the Creative Technology Framework Placement tutor.
I am currently also working on my PhD writeup after reading for that degree at the Department Of Information Science at City University, London under Dr Vesna Brujic-Okretic's supervision since October 2005. For this I was awarded an industrial EPSRC CASE studentship, meaning that while studying for the research degree I was also being sponsored by an industrial partner, Alcatel Lucent Telecom Limited UK. My PhD is (tentatively) titled "Generation, Visualisation And Evaluation of Expressively-Rendered Urban Environments for Mobile Navigation" and results stemming from this research have already been published at several international computer graphics and virtual reality conferences.
In the past I have also studied for an MPhil at the University Of Sussex and also hold an MA In Computer Animation from the University Of Teesside (which I was awarded an ESF bursary for, covering for my fees and expenses) and a BSc In Computer Studies (Visualisation) from the University Of Derby (where I did a 4-year sandwich course which included 12 months of industrial placement at Siemens AG, Vienna in Austria).
Finally, I maintain a regularly-updated research blog which not only showcases major breakthroughs and updates of my own work but also related news items in the world of computer science (particularly in relation to my research interests).
