Profile

I am an experimental psychologist whose current research includes an empirical investigation of the effects of emotional facial expression on the processes responsible for the recognition of human faces. I have a number of publications reporting empirical work exploring the role of working memory in a range of activities and have participated in consultancy work examining the involvement of working memory in the use of in-car interfaces for Jaguar-Ford. In addition I have supervised a three year research project exploring the role of working memory in air traffic control funded by NATS (National Air Traffic Services Ltd). I have been involved in a number of successful research collaborations with the ARC research centre University of Portsmouth and have presented research at a number of International conferences.

My work also includes research examining visual perception and the application of cognitive psychology to learning and teaching in Higher Education. I have 6 PhD completions and have co-authored an undergraduate text book on applied cognitive psychology distributed in the UK, continental Europe and North America.
