Profile
Although a psychologist by education and orientation , I have been involved with the application of computing and communications technology from an early stage of both my career and the development of the technology, particularly in education. I am currently interested in the educational implications of “Web 2.0” and social computing, and in assistive technology.
My recent industrial experience has principally involved consultancy work in the IT area with clients such as The Scotsman Publications Ltd., Siemens Plessey Controls Ltd., the Government of the Isle of Man Insurance Authority and Roux Restaurants Ltd., London, as well as a range of activity under the aegis of the DTI Information Society Initiative as a co-founder of CASBA (Centre for Applied Superhighway Advantage) which, inter alia, worked with the relevant local authorities to develop the South-east Dorset “Cyber-conurbation” project.
I am elected General Staff Representative on the University Senate, and have served in the same role on the University Board.
