Profile
My research has focused on understanding the symptoms and treatment of dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, stroke and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Alzheimer’s disease
My research on dementia has examined the potential cognitive benefits of acetylcholine esterase inhibitors for the treatment and management of Alzheimer’s disease. My core texts in dementia and memory have been adopted by training courses for healthcare professionals.
Stroke
This research has examined proprioception and incomplete innervation in leg muscles following stroke. I have explored the use of computer-based approaches to rehabilitating leg injuries following trauma and stroke.
Medico-Legal
I am interested in healthcare professionals working within the legal system; medico-legal report writing and testamentary capacity in dementia.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
I am interested in vicarious traumatisation and the support mechanisms for emergency workers.
Fashion
The impact of fashion on identity and the psychology of fashion is an intriguing current area of interest.
