Profile

I am the Chair in Health Research and Deputy Dean of Research at the School of Health & Social Care, Bournemouth University. As part of my work with Centre for Qualitative Research I am currently collaborating with Professor Todres to develop new evidence based in phenomenological case study which is useful to practice and aim to develop a research programme which explores experiences of a range of health issues with a view to developing a theoretical framework for caring practice.

In addition I am collaborating with Prof Todres in developing a novel dissemination method for lay people, in order to facilitate them in engaging with research findings.

I am leading a regional initiative ' OPeRA' which aims to develop regional strength in research related to older people in rural areas, the initiative in collaboration with University of West of England, and Univeristy of Plymouth. We are currently developing a bid for ESRC New Dynamics of Ageing funding and have been successful in securing a network grant.

I am collaborating with Dr Eloise Carr to evaluate the outcomes of professional doctorate education and its relevance to nurses and midwives.

I am collaborating with Professor Peter Thomas in research which explores what is helpful to people with multiple sclerosis, this began with a systematic review which led to a randomised controlled trial of an intervention which has been informed by the findings of the systematic review

I am collaborating with Dr Kip Jones in using performative methods to disseminate research for older people.
