Profile
I have over 13 years experience in the radio industry, as Presenter, Producer, and Station Manager having worked for the largest commercial company in the UK, GCAP Media, and The Local Radio Company, which owns a series of smaller stations in the UK, including Wessex FM, Vale FM and Spire FM.
My area of expertise is radio history and development, with an emphasis on independent radio. I explore current industry issues and trends such as convergence & multi-platform delivery, branding, regulation, audience & music research, scheduling and playlisting. I am currently undertaking a PhD in the history of commercial radio programming and am collaborating with Tony Stoller, former Chief Executive of the Radio Authority on research for his book about Independent Radio, due to be published in 2008.
I continue to broadcast on a freelance basis on radio stations across the South of England, including the new regional station, Original 106. I serve on the committee of the Radio Academy South branch, based at Bournemouth University, which aims to bring a stronger social and business radio network for those passionate about making great radio, including media students, radio practitioners and academics.
