Profile

As Screenwriter-in-Residence I am involved in the teaching of screenwriting at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and radio drama with postgraduate radio students. I have taught screenwriting for such organisations as the Arvon Foundation and the Scriptnet/British Council overseas script development programmes, working with screenwriting students in Ghana and Sri Lanka. I have published fiction and reviews in the Guardian, Spectator and Tribune, written for radio and the theatre, worked as a script reader, script editor and researcher for the BBC, Central and Granada. My screenwriting credits include many episodes for TV series such as Z-Cars, Softly Softly, Crown Court, Emmerdale, Juliet Bravo, Rockliffe, Saracen, The Bill. I have also written childrens’ serials for the BBC and Granada, one-off dramas and dramatised documentaries, including a BAFTA award-winning BBC Omnibus on crime novelist Raymond Chandler.

My movie screenplay Letters from a Killer was produced in 1998 starring Patrick Swayze, and I am a contributor to the award-winning short story collection, Mean Time. I have written a screenplay commissioned and produced by the Media School and have been involved in the creation of multi-media dance dramas. I am currently working on a novel.
