Profile
My research focuses on the role of the internet as a means of political communication and civic engagement with particular reference to young people’s civic attitudes, media preferences and online behaviour.
Since the commencement of my doctoral research in 2002, I have delivered presentations and spoken at more than 20 national and international conferences and research seminars in Europe and the United States.
In 2003 I took a leading role in the establishment of the Centre for Public Communication Research (CPCR) within the Media School and have organised and moderated 10 research events, seminars and roundtables with guest speakers from around the country.
In 2004 I founded, and have since led, the Greek Politics Specialist Group (GPSG) of the UK’s Political Studies Association (PSA). With a membership of 130 scholars, the GPSG is one of the biggest and most active specialist groups of the PSA. From 2004-2006 I also served as Communications Officer of the PSA’s Graduate Network (PGN).
My work has featured in the media (Associated Press, BBC, Times Higher Education Supplement, local newspapers and radio, Greek newspapers and radio) and I have a keen interest in blogging and the internet.
