Congratulations - Leader Foundation FellowCongratulations to Chris Shiel of the Institute of Business and Law on becoming one of the UK's first Leadership Foundation Fellows. Chris received her fellowship, worth £40,000, from the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education during a ceremony in London. The fellowship will help Chris to take forward the work of Bournemouth University's Global Perspectives Group with the aim of further embedding global perspectives, global citizenship and sustainable development across the curriculum within the University. The award recognises her leadership in this area and also in leading the major e-learning project, EBAM (e-Business and Management) with the subsequent successful migration of that project from UKeUniversities. "This award will, essentially, help me in leading an institutional change management programme but also for my own personal development as a leader," Chris enthuses. "The University has moved a long way in developing the concepts of global perspectives but we need to find ways to ensure that all our graduates appreciate the issues and understand sustainable development." "Its great to have the award, particularly in a time when HEFCE has just produced it's own draft strategy for sustainable development and DfES has published 'putting the World into World Class Education' - a global perspective is critical," she concludes. << Back to Global Perspectives News and Events |
