Saving Energy and the Environment at Bournemouth University

The Save Earth Awareness programme has been designed to raise University Staff and Students awareness of the impact their daily activities and actions have on the environment.

Our collective aim is to reduce the University's impact upon the local and global environment, through simple measures.

To date the campaign, has focused on:

• Energy Use
• Waste Reduction
• Transport

The campaign makes sense because it:

• Reduces our environmental impact
• Extends the life of fossil fuel supplies
• Reduces costs which can be allocated to educational funds

Everyone can and should make a contribution, no matter how small each action appears.

If everyone works together, we can make a difference that really matters.

BU spent over £1.6 million on energy and water in 2009/10, equivalent to 8164 tonnes of carbon. Following the simple measures on these pages could save 10% of this! Money that could be better spent improving your education, protecting our planet and our future.
