Testing your safety EquipmentWe recommend that you periodically press the test button on your smoke alarms to check that they are working. If they are set off accidentally, for example by burnt toast, press the hush button to stop them sounding. Most alarms have 10-year batteries but those with shorter life batteries may start ‘beeping’ when the battery is low. If this happens, you may need to open the case and change the battery. If you are in any doubt or you wish to report in confidence any misuse of equipment, please contact your property supervisor.
