About ALERT

ALERT was funded through the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Strand 2 initiative for 'Improving Provision for Disabled Students'. The project was managed by Dr Barbara Newland of Bournemouth University, along with local project manager, Juliette Pavey, Durham University and Victoria Boyd, project officer, Durham University.

The research methodology was based on qualitative data collected from 14 case study interviews with disabled students and academic staff. Thematic analysis of this data informed the development of the guidelines.

Outcomes from the project have been widely disseminated through presentations and workshops at both national and international conferences as well as contributions to journals and books.
