Bournemouth University

Emma Bonthorne

I chose Bournemouth University (BU) because of its strong reputation in forensic sciences and because the MSc course allowed me to specialise in both forensic anthropology and archaeology.

I've really enjoyed studying at BU. The staff are very approachable and willing to help, and there are many opportunities to gain practical experience, both in the lab working with human remains and in the field with archaeology.

I am currently employed as a biological anthropologist and archaeologist in Spain and, as part of my job, I will be spending the next year analysing human skeletal remains from the Basque Country and co-directing archaeological excavations of Roman, Bronze and Iron Age sites in Navarre. I would also like to continue research into skeletal trauma from the Spanish Civil War and plan to start a PhD within the next two years.
