Getting Published: Learning from rejection

Who? Janet Hanson, AS, and Mike Molesworth, MS

When? 29 November 2004

What? Getting Published: Learning from rejection

*** Since the seminar Mike Molesworth has had his paper accepted by the Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management***

Much of the evaluation of learning and teaching activities that is undertaken for QA purposes, or the evaluation of funded Learning and Teaching projects, can be written up and developed into a paper for publication in a journal.

This seminar provided examples of how that can be achieved, what journals to approach and what review editors are looking for.  Unfortunately, not everything you send off to a journal is accepted straight away, but valuable lessons can be learnt from this rejection and the feedback you get can help you improve on the original.

Janet Hanson from Academic Services gave an overview of publishing opportunities for pedagogic reports and research and Mike Molesworth from the Media School shared his experiences, both positive and negative, of receiving editors' feedback.
