Routes into Languages South England and Wales Careers Conference and Exhibition

Wills Memorial Building, Bristol University, Bristol
Students from all faculties are welcome to attend, although the whole event is dedicated to professional careers based around modern languages. We are excited to welcome some very high profile speakers for the afternoon including representatives from the UN, European Parliament and GCHQ, and freelance professionals such as Tony Briggs the translator of War and Peace.

European Internships Fair

This fair is aimed at postgraduate students following a variety of courses including comparative politics, european political economy, corporate and european law, european social policy, international political economy and politics and government in the EU, who are looking for work experience in Brussels.

Getting into International Development

International development is a growing sector that employs a wide range of people around the globe. This one day introductory course will set out clearly how the sector is structured, the different entry roles available and the combination of qualifications, skills and experience needed to get into international development.

Spring Break: Inside the Business

This event, held over two days, is regarded by previous attendees as a great opportunity to find out about the organisation as well as the industry. It is a comprehensive overview of investment banking. Our carefully constructed programme gives students a great insight into the different facets of our business in Bournemouth and where they may be most suited. Students will participate in interactive presentations, case studies, work shadowing and recruiter workshops. You can also network with senior business leaders and recent analysts who were once in your position.

London & Thames Gateway Graduate Recruitment Fair

This is a leading graduate fair for London, Canary Wharf and the wider Thames Gateway. The demand for quality recruits has not reduced. Companies are still looking for the best people. But in a harsher economic climate, the competition for places has naturally intensified. We aim to not only bring together a range of live jobs, but also to provide information and advice that will help you stand out from the crowd.
This fair was created so that motivated and talented graduates could access some of the exciting opportunities that exist across London and the Thames Gateway, which includes Canary Wharf, Stratford City (incorporating Westfield and the new international rail station) and the 2012 Olympic Park with its associated sites.

Getting started in PR

The CIPR will be hosting a careers morning for students and graduates interested in starting a career in public relations. We understand that it has become increasingly difficult for graduates to enter their chosen career. This event will provide you with useful hints and tips to help you get that all important first foothold on the PR ladder.
The event consists of three bite-size sessions offering advice and guidance on what employers are looking for; getting your foot in the door and then CV and interview tips. All sessions include an opportunity for you to ask questions.
Following the event you will have the opportunity to network with a few select PR recruitment consultants and PR organisations.

City Solicitors’ Educational Trust (CSET) Summer Schools

Imperial College, London
The summer schools are a unique opportunity for first-year law students and second year non-law students to explore a career in law, build their skills and access personalised careers advice. They will feature skills sessions on practical law, commercial awareness, teamwork and interview and application tips and are designed to open up the prospect of a career in law to students from all backgrounds. Sponsorship from City law firms means that accommodation, meals and travel expenses will be provided.
Due to the success of the previous two years, in 2010 there will be two one-week residential summer schools, with 100 places available each week.
