You Asked.....We Responded......

You Asked 'That we attract more companies to on-campus careers fairs"

We Responded "This year's careers and placement fair is going to be a 2 day event with approximately 100 employers attending over the 2 days.  The reason we have decided to hold a 2 day event is because we recognise the need to increase the number of employer's that students are able to gain access to whilst on campus.  Hopefully this year's event will be more diverse and even better than previous years events.  We are always willing to accept suggestions of organisations we could invite on to campus to attend our events.

You Asked '‘Whether it would be possible to put a direct line telephone number in an easily accessible place on the GES Website’"

We Responded "‘As a result of your feedback, we are placing our contact details e.g phone number and email address on the front page of the website and it will also be accessible on every other page of the website as well."

You Asked "That we develop more sector specific specific knowledge among careers staff"

We Responded "A Careers Advisor has been allocated to each school tasked with developing their subject knowledge within specific sectors"

You Asked "That there are more workshops available on Psychometric Testing/CV Writing "

We Responded "We have put on an extra couple of Psychometric Testing Workshops this term to cope with demand "

You Asked "That Careers Appointments be available when you need them"

We Responded "Our appointment booking system has been changed to ensure that you can see a careers advisor the same day as booking an appointment"

We Responded "Careers advisors are now available for quick queries within the Employability offices within each of the Schools. There is no need to book for these. Just turn up!"

You Asked " That careers help be available to you if you are off campus or when we are closed"

We Responded "A package called ‘Destinations' provides comprehensive advice on a range of careers topics. This is accessible at http://destinations.bournemouth.ac.uk/index.shtml"

We Responded "You can contact us by email at careers@bournemouth.ac.uk and we will endeavour to reply within 5 working days."

You Asked "That updated information about careers events and new resources are available on MY BU"

We Responded "There is now a Graduate Employment Service My Communities Page within My BU where you can access up-to-date information"

We Responded "We have also created a Facebook Account to advertise our Events."

You Asked "That we are open in the evenings to reflect the fact that lectures finish late"

We Responded "The Graduate Employment Service is open on a Wednesday until 7pm for information and advice."

You Asked " That careers appointments be available for longer than half an hour "

We Responded "Students are entitled to as many appointments as they wish and where possible/appropriate appointments may go beyond half an hour dependent on how booked up the appointments diary is."
