Aimhigher with BU

Aimhigher with BU evolved from the late Aimhigher programme funded by HEFCE, as part of Bournemouth University’s Fair Access Agreement. Our work is diverse and dynamic, bringing together a range of activities related to widening participation, fair access and collaboration through outreach activities with our partners in schools, academies and colleges.

BU's commitment to widening participation and fair access remains absolute and this is identified as a key priority in the Strategic Plan. Aimhigher with BU are the internal team, based in the Marketing & Communications Directorate, developing, coordinating and delivering outreach activity. We also work with BU Academic Schools and Professional Services to develop and offer a programme of targeted activities to help facilitate access to Higher Education.

Studying at university can seem a daunting prospect regardless of whether you are 18 or 80. At BU we offer a range of opportunities to give prospective students a real feel of what university life is like, such as:

• Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths focussed activities

We are keen to work with school, academies and colleges across Bournemouth, Dorset, Poole and Somerset, to engage learners that meet our targeting criteria. We are also keen to extend this work to other neighbouring counties.
