BU Professors Ahmed Khattab and Denzil Claremont will continue to lead the existing Biomedical Science and Bio-engineering groups. Dr David Kerr, Consultant Physician at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Professor Peter Thomas, Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at the University will lead the Clinical and Research Methodology groups. The research governance managers from local NHS Trusts are working on the form and leadership of the fifth Research Governance group.

Examples of research projects:

  • Phantom Limb Pain
    Beginning in 2003, Dr Jonathan Cole and his team have been researching phantom pain. Carried out in conjunction with CoPMRE, the research aims to help amputees ‘feel’ their missing limbs by simulating the limb’s movement in a virtual environment and thereby reduce their susceptibility to phantom pain.   • Living with Diabetes
    In an entirely unrelated project, again drawing on collobration with the Centre, Dr David Kerr is researching into several areas involving diabetes, enabling patients to enjoy a better quality of life. He shares with us how he believes the Centre supports his commitment to research. More information >
