Steering Committee

The Education Steering Committee provides a focus for postgraduate medical education for local doctors through their career development and beyond. It concentrates on new ways of enhancing medical development complementing activity supplied by the Deaneries. Initiatives include the joint delivery by Clinical Tutors and University Lecturers of the Professional Skills in Medicine for Foundation Year 2 doctors, Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice (Medicine), joint supervised projects for MSc Healthcare students, Certificate/Diploma/Masters linked to training for local doctors and PhD studentships.

The Committee has representatives from local NHS Trusts (Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch NHS Foundation Trust, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Bournemouth University (Dean, Associate Dean Postgraduate Students and Deputy Dean Education, GP Centre, School of Health and Social Care) and SHA (Dean Dorset & Somerset).

The Committee was established in November 2006 and meets three times a year. A report is produced following each meeting, which is widely circulated and posted on this website.
