Latest Updates

The Centre for Qualitative Research at Bournemouth University is pleased to announce the 3rd International Symposium on Poetic Inquiry to be held from the 20 – 23 October 2011 at Bournemouth University.

This Symposium carries forward a bringing together of international poets and scholars from diverse contexts and interdisciplinary fields to share critical poetic inquiry and dialogue. We are honoured to carry forward this bi–annual event established by Monica Prendergast and Carl Leggo at the Centre for Cross–Faculty Inquiry, Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia in October 2007. Subsequently the Symposium was hosted by Suzanne Thomas and Ardra Cole as a collaboration between the Centre for Education Research, Faculty of Education, University of Prince Edward Island and the Centre for Arts–informed Research, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.

As part of the first two Symposia participants explored for example: criteria for evaluating poetic inquiry; qualities of exemplary poetic inquiry practice; resonances between poetic inquiry and other forms of inquiry; the aesthetics of poetic inquiry. We wish to continue this conversation and also celebrate and share poetry. The Symposium will include a poetry reading evening and open mic ‘poetry shots’.
