The CQR has presented some very popular masterclasses over the last
year including:

The Centre for Qualitative Research presents a two day masterclass identifying important foundations for qualitative research. The classes will appeal to postgraduate students, academics, and professionals who wish to begin to engage with qualitative research methods and to find out more about the range of possibilities.
- July 2009 - 6 - 7 July 2009 - W Richard Cowling III, Inquiry as Appreciating Wholeness: Research Worthy of Human Inspiration
The Centre for Qualitative Research presents a two day masterclass where W Richard Cowling III will draw upon storytelling and artistic expression as unitary praxis approaches for tapping hidden human potentials. He will share stories of women’s and nurses’ lives and his own story to illustrate unitary appreciative knowing. He will invite storytelling individually and collectively by participants to demonstrate the process of unitary appreciative inquiry.

- 15 April 2009 : Masterclass: Re-Search as Vocation: Building Bridges between Phenomenology and Depth Psychology (PDF 1.42 kb)
For 30 years Professor Romanyshyn has been doing psychological work - as a therapist, writer, and researcher-in the space between the traditions of phenomenology and depth psychology, especially Jungian psychology. In these masterclasses he will draw upon stories and examples from his graduate students to build bridges between these two traditions. In addition, he will invite participants to engage in exercises that give an experiential foundation to the ideas.

Join the Performative Social Science Group at the Centre for Qualitative Research, Bournemouth University, for two days of hands-on learning in script writing, location scouting, storyboarding, directing and editing filmed projects for social science researchers.
Josh Appignanesi has recently completed a short film, Ex Memoria, funded by the Wellcome Trust's SciArt scheme for £50K. The film stars Sara Kestelman and Natalie Press, and concerns a woman with Alzheimers. This film was made for the Bradford Dementia Group. He regularly teaches and mentors for the Met Film School at Ealing Studios, Arista, and ad hoc at various other institutions including Script Factory, London Film School and City University. Josh has previously presented a Seminar at Bournemouth and will be directing a film for BU's New Dynamics of Ageing research project led by CQR’s Kip Jones.
