Prospective Students

If you are thinking of studying at Bournemouth University:

  • Contact the ALN Service as soon as possible
  • We can tell you about the support available and the steps you will need to take
  • If you plan to study a BU programme at one of our Regional Partner Colleges, please contact the ALN Service at the relevant institution.

Once you have made contact with us, we will normally:

  • Encourage you to make a visit to meet the relevant staff e.g. Programme Leader or Administrator for the course you are wishing to undertake
  • Arrange for you to meet appropriate staff from the Additional Learning Needs Team
  • If you are unable to make a prospective visit, please let us know. It may be possible to arrange for an ALN Adviser to speak to you on the phone about the support that could be available

Once you have been offered a place at the University or one of our Partner Colleges you should receive an "ALN prospective student’s pack".

  • ALN Summary of Needs questionnaire – to be completed and returned as soon as possible
  • Confidentiality form
  • University statement of the services and support available to ALN students
  • Information about the Disabled Students' Allowance. (See also the section on Funding on these web pages)

All information we receive will be dealt with on a confidential basis.
