Entry requirements

English language entry requirements

If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence that you can read, write, speak and understand English to a satisfactory level.

English language requirements, for the majority of our Bachelors and taught Masters courses, are normally a minimum of:

For some courses where communication is especially important the grades required may be higher and a minimum score in individual components may be requested.

Academic entry requirements

If you followed the Ghanaian system of education then this is our guideline for the normal entry requirements. Your application will be studied by an admissions tutor so it is important that you take the time to include information about your academic background and you as a person!

International Foundation Certificate

If you have completed Senior Secondary School Certificate (12 years of schooling) in Ghana and have achieved a minimum of IELTS (Academic) 5.0 or SSSCE English grade 1-6 *, you now have the option of undertaking a one year BU International Foundation Certificate before entering a Bachelors (undergraduate) course.

For those students graduating with the Ghanaian West African Higher School Certificate/A levels where 13 years of schooling have been undertaken then you can apply to enter an Undergraduate course directly.

* For some courses the English requirement will be higher.
