MSc Forensic Archaeology, Crime Scene & International Investigations

Year of Graduation: 2007

I chose to study at Bournemouth University because they offered the best course for me in the area of forensics and crime scene investigations. I also felt it offered good employment opportunities. The best thing about the course was that it equipped me to handle very complex and sensitive criminal cases I have faced in my career so far.

When I graduated from MSc Forensic Archaeology, Crime Science & International Investigation I became the Head of the Crime Scene Management Unit within the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, until I was seconded by my current organisation to UNAMID (African Union/United Nations Hybrid operation in Darfur).

My current role includes designing and developing curriculum in Crime Scene Investigations for the Police in Darfur. Coordinating and developing appropriate induction training for incoming UNAMID Police personnel, supervising other internal training and support issues of UNAMID Police and cooperating closely with other training cells within UNAMID. Reviewing and implementing the training programme for incoming UNAMID Police. Assigning a training schedule and monitor the training and planning and recommending training improvements to continuously develop the quality of service of UNAMID Police Officers.

Socially, I also enjoyed visiting various places of interest around Dorset, near where the University is location in the UK; I also enjoyed the nice beaches, the good bus routes between Bournemouth and Poole, the numerous shopping malls that operate almost round the clock, and also the peaceful and serene environment.

My overall impression of the UK was that it was very accommodating to people from all over the world. For me, the UK is one of the best places to study, most importantly for those who don't have English as their first language.
