Liva Biseniece
MA Corporate Communication
I came to Bournemouth to reflect on my professional experience and gather new ideas for future. After six years of progressive professional career with government institutions and international development organisations I realised some gaps in my academic background. As a result I set off to do more studies in cross-cultural communication, corporate strategy and public affairs. These three directions were offered by the Media School. My choice was also aided by a good word of mouth from the graduates of the MA CC programme.
The programme was tense and demanding, exactly the way I expected it to be. I think that studies should always be about broadening personal abilities. My tutors were excellent at making the group think hard and argue well. In all, it was a very satisfying academic environment. Different academic facilities, such as library, electronic data bases of articles, and learning support, work extremely good at Bournemouth University.
An important part of studies in Bournemouth is the beach. You will find it to be the best place in town for social life even during the winter. And you will learn many ways to spend your time on beach, be it just a walk, coffee or a group work in one of the local coffee shops.
To me, the Chevening scholarship offered an unforgettable academic and social experience. Learning to live in a foreign country is almost as important as studying for MA. The UK proved to be a very welcoming and easy place to live. The country works very well - be it connecting your house to the internet or opening a bank account.
