Fees and funding

All tuition fees stated below are for full-time courses

Undergraduate courses

Tuition fees

For students beginning their studies at BU in September 2012 the annual tuition fee depends on the course you will study. The fees range from £9,500 - £11,500.

You will pay the same amount every year for the duration of your course.

Some undergraduate courses last for four years, because they include a work placement year. The placement year carries a lower fee, which for non-EU students beginning their course in 2012 is £1,500.

Cost of living

As well as money to pay your tuition fees, you will need enough money for living expenses – the amount will vary depending on your personal lifestyle.

As a guideline, for each calendar year (12 months) you should allow approximately £8,000 for yourself, plus at least an extra £3,500 for your spouse/older child and £2,000 for each young child.

Examples of things (at 2009 prices) that you will have to pay for are:

Working in Bournemouth

As Bournemouth is a service sector town it provides plenty of opportunities for part-time, casual work in its range of cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. Many students supplement their income by finding part-time employment during their time at BU. Of course the amount you will be able to commit to will depend on the demands of your course of study.

During term time international (non-EU) students may only work a maximum of 20 hours per week.
