Applying for an undergraduate course
Please make sure you have read the application procedures page first.
Who do I contact if I want more information?
If you want information on a specific undergraduate course at the University, you must contact one of the BCIE offices who will be able to assist you. Please do not contact the University directly. We will not be able to respond to your enquiry and we will redirect your enquiry to BCIE.
You will be invited to attend a counselling session at your nearest BCIE office.
BCIE staff will give you advice with regard to the courses available at BU and the application procedure.
How do I apply to BU?
All applications for undergraduate courses must be made using a UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) form submitted by BCIE who are an official UCAS Centre.
You will not be charged for the initial interview or submitting the UCAS form (other than the UCAS application fee), but BCIE will inform you of the other services they offer to students that do incur a charge.
All correspondence with regard to the application will then be between BCIE and the International Admissions Team at BU. BCIE will of course keep you informed of all the developments in the application process.
Who do I contact if I am living outside of Nigeria?
If you are a Nigerian national, but living outside of Nigeria, you will still have to contact an BCIE office either in Nigeria or the UK (Bedford) to submit your UCAS application form through them.
However, if you are currently on a student visa in the UK studying at another institution, we may be able to consider your application directly.
What will happen if I submit a UCAS form directly to the University without going through BCIE?
The University will not process any UCAS applications received directly from Nigerian students. The information on your UCAS form will need to be verified by BCIE before the form can be processed.
What happens next if the University wants to make me an offer to study a course?
An offer letter will be sent to BCIE who will then inform you. This offer letter will set out the conditions of the offer (if any), tuition fees, a request for £2,000 deposit payable to BCIE to secure a place on the course and other relevant information.
This offer letter will not be valid to apply for a visa. Only when the deposit is received and cleared by BCIE, will another offer letter be issued that will assist in obtaining your visa to study at BU.
What happens if I am denied a visa?
BCIE charges an admin fee of £500 to students who are denied visas on the basis of a forged bank statement or other forged documents.
All other students are given a full deposit refund within 3 months of a visa rejection document being handed to an BCIE office.
How will I book my University accommodation?
Once your offer is unconditional, you have paid your deposit and secured your visa, BCIE will book your University accommodation on your behalf following discussions with you as to the kind of accommodation you would like.
