Agata Chojnacka

BA (Hons) Business Studies

One day I was surfing the web and found BU’s website. I thought to myself “I’ll give it a shot”, so I gathered all the papers needed and applied. A few months later I got an unconditional offer. The application process wasn’t complicated at all. When I lived in the USA I took the TOEFL test which BU approved as evidence of knowledge of English, I also had Matura exam papers translated to English and all I had to do is to write why I wanted to start studying at BU.

The best thing about my course is the relevance of what we are taught to the requirements of the business world. I am sure I will use most of the information that

I am given at some point of my life. Nevertheless the most important thing about my course is people; other students, tutors. I met amazing people from all over the world.

Bournemouth is a great place to study; there are not that many students in England who can say they go to the beach after classes. It’s a beautiful town with even more beautiful beaches and summer here is just incredible. I have been living in the UK for over 2 years now and I love it.

Filip Karnicki

BSc (Hons) Business Information Technology

I came to study at BU mainly because of the high employability rates of its graduates. The whole application process seemed a little complicated at first, but it was actually simpler than I had imagined.

The thing which strikes me the most about my course is the fact that it focuses more on practical issues of IT. I really feel that on completion of my course I will have all the skills necessary to succeed in the highly competitive market of IT. All the tutors I had the pleasure to meet were very kind and helpful, but bear in mind they are only there to direct you in your studies and you have to do most of your learning on your own.

Bournemouth is a great place to study also because of the nightlife. Whether you prefer mainstream dance or indie music, the town offers a wide range of venues for you to choose from. I particularly enjoy theme nights at The Old Firestation – wicked times for a reasonable price.

I can honestly say that no matter if you decide to work in the UK or back in your home country after graduation, BU will prepare you to pursue even the most challenging of your career dreams.

Joanna Nowak

BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance

I have chosen to pursue my higher education at BU because of its renowned reputation. Studying here in the South is an enriching experience as the environment is conducive to studying. I would recommend BU to future students because it invests heavily in preparing them for success in the increasingly competitive world of employment.

My course of study is both challenging and motivating. I have always been interested in business related fields, which led me to choose a course that will prepare me to work in an international environment. What I like the most about my course is the encouragement and support given by the lecturers and staff. They are always friendly and willing to help. However, it is still challenging, especially for the international students for whom English is a second language; it took time to adjust my learning attitudes and strategies. Although the techniques and ideas the lecturers have suggested do enrich and inspire me a lot.

I believe that pursuing higher education at BU will give me an excellent opportunity for professional development and will increase my career prospects across Europe. Most importantly, I enjoy every minute at BU and I look forward to challenges it offers in the future.

Katarzyna Jankowska

BA (Hons) Marketing

BU is the best thing that has happened to me so far. Why Bournemouth? I can’t answer that myself as it was a spontaneous decision that I am extremely happy with. It could be the atmosphere, the beach, the University itself or just bits of everything. I visited Bournemouth once and I just knew I want to live there! And here I am.

I have been working in different areas, professions and departments before I came to BU. That experience helped me to decide which course I want to take and which of my skills I want to develop. I am very passionate about Marketing. All modules are covering areas of my interests and build my understanding of that profession.

I also love being a student! It’s not only about discounts, but the life outside University. Playing for BU Ladies Basketball Team did not let me to get away from going out every week. I am also supervising one of the nightclubs here and I am looking forward to every single shift.

I would say that my experience in UK and at University is the most valued possession I have and the best thing about it is the fact that it can not be taken away from me.
