Students from Europe

Erasmus study exchange

Students from other European countries can study at Bournemouth University (BU) through the Erasmus Student Mobility Programme.

Erasmus study exchanges are part of the new Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) which came on stream in January 2007 and which will run until 2013.

Eligibility

You must have successfully completed at least one year of study at your home university

You can only participate in an Erasmus study exchange if there is a bilateral agreement between BU and your home university. This is to ensure that there are compatible courses available for you at BU.

If you do not have the required school-leaving certificate you will have to submit an English test as proof of sufficient English language levels.

The majority of courses normally have a minimum requirement of:

The Language Centre

Whilst you are here in Bournemouth, you may wish to continue to develop your language skills through our Languages@BU programme. As an international student your School will provide support, but you may also be looking for additional help to improve your academic and professional English. The Language Centre has a selection of multi-media resources to help you and also runs additional Conversation Club sessions during term time and EnglishLAB workshops.

Languages@BU is a languages programme for the independent learner. Once enrolled to the Community, you can choose from six languages at four different levels, working at your own pace and choosing whether or not to take the assessed route. Pathways have been designed so you can target language associated with your area of study and career. For further practise, you can join our Conversation Club sessions with native-speaker students. EnglishLAB is designed to help you if English is not your first language. You have the opportunity to work on your English language accuracy and skills through a series of workshops which look at various aspects of the language, for example; grammar, punctuation and pronunciation. For further practise you can join the English Conversation Club.

Each year we employ students as Facilitators for the Conversation Clubs, so if you are interested in helping others learn your own language please email the Language Centre for further details - you may be able to "earn while you learn".
