BUPEP
BUPEP Autumn Degree Admission
For Bachelors and Masters courses beginning in September 2012 in the following BU Academic Schools.
- Business School
- School of Design, Engineering & Computing
- School of Tourism
BUPEP Autumn Degree Admission is divided into three stages, each lasting between 10 – 12 weeks. The programme finishes in the middle of September 2011, ready for you to begin your academic course at the end of September 2011. Your level of English at the time of application will determine your entry point onto the programme.
The programme is designed so that, as long as your attendance is good and you complete course assessments successfully, you should reach the standard of English necessary for entry onto your chosen academic programme by the end of BUPEP.
Programme structure
Stage 1: 3 January - 23 March 2012
Programme delivery: Local Language School, Bournemouth
Accommodation: Host family
Tuition fee: £6,000 for Stage 1, 2 and 3 (5% discount applies for full payment on or before enrolment)
This stage of BUPEP:
- systematically reviews those areas of grammar which are important for academic expression
- offers intensive practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing
- identifies students' specific weaknesses and introduces strategies for improvement
Successful completion of Stage 1 allows progression onto Stage 2.
Stage 2: 2 April 2012 - 22 June 2012
Programme delivery: Local Language School, Bournemouth
Accommodation: Host family
Tuition fee: £4,125 for Stage 2 and 3 (5% discount applies for full payment on or before enrolment)
This stage of BUPEP:
- ensures that you can communicate accurately and effectively in English
- provides intensive practice in academic writing
- introduces you to essential study skills such as reading, listening and note-taking
Successful completion of Stage 2 allows progression onto Stage 3.
Stage 3: 2 July 2012 - 7 September 2012
Programme delivery: BU Talbot Campus or Local Language School, Bournemouth
Accommodation:
Tuition fee: £2,250 for Stage 3 (5% discount applies for full payment on or before enrolment)
This stage of BUPEP:
- further consolidates your ability to use English in an academic context
- familiarises you with the University's approach to learning, teaching and assessment
- helps you to develop strategies for researching and evaluating material
- introduces you to subject specific content for their academic course
- You will not be required to sit an IELTS examination at the end of the course. However, IELTS testing and marking criteria are used as part of the continual assesment process.
Successful completion of Stage 3 allows progression onto your academic course at BU.
