BUPEP Media School Admission
There are two Media School Admission preparatory courses depending on the English entry requirements of the degree course you are applying for. The following table offers an outline and the BUPEP courses are explained in more detail below.

BUPEP Media School Admission – for IELTS 6.5 degree course entry
For all Bachelors and Masters courses in The Media School, beginning in September 2011, with an entry requirement of IELTS (Academic) 6.5 or equivalent.
This BUPEP Media School Admission preparatory course is for entry onto all undergraduate and postgraduate courses in The Media School which have an entry requirement of IELTS (Academic) 6.5 or equivalent.
This course is divided into two stages, each lasting between 10 to 12 weeks. Your level of English at the time of application will determine your entry point onto the programme.
The programme is designed so that, as long as your attendance is good and you complete course assessments successfully, you should reach the standard of English necessary for entry onto your chosen academic programme by the end of the BUPEP.
The programme finishes in the middle of September 2012, ready for you to begin your academic course at the beginning of October 2012.
BUPEP Media School Admission (for IELTS 6.5 degree course entry) is accepted for entry to the following courses in The Media School:

Stage 1: 2 April - 22 June 2012
Programme delivery: Local Language School, Bournemouth
Accommodation: Host family
Tuition fee: £4,125 for Stage 1 and 2 (5% discount applies for full payment on or before enrolment)
This stage of BUPEP:
- ensures that you have a very good understanding of English structure and that you are able to apply this knowledge to a range of challenging communication situations
- provides intensive practice in Academic English, written and spoken, focusing where appropriate, on media-related topics.
Successful completion of Stage 1 allows progression onto Stage 2.
Stage 2: 2 July - 7 September 2012
Programme delivery: MLS International College, Bournemouth
Accommodation:University residences or Host family (as available)
Tuition fee: £2,250 for Stage 2 (5% discount applies for full payment on or before enrolment).
This stage of BUPEP:
- consolidates your ability to use English in an academic context in all four language sub-skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening
- develops your written English to a level that will enable you to express yourself accurately, fluently and with impact
- helps you to become familiar with both the University's and The Media School's approach to learning, teaching and assessment
- develops strategies for researching material and for critical analysis and will introduce you to a range of media issues and content including: new media environments, the media's relationship with culture and society, and globalisation and technological change.
- You will not be required to sit on IELTS examination at the end of the course. However, IELTS testing and marking criteria are used as part of the continual assessment process.
Successful completion allows progression onto your academic course in The Media School at BU.
BUPEP Media School Admission – for IELTS 7.0 degree course entry
For Bachelors and Masters courses in The Media School, beginning in September 2012, with an entry requirement of IELTS (Academic) 7.0 or equivalent.
