Bournemouth University International Foundation Certificate (IFC)

Kaplan International College in Bournemouth offers the BU International Foundation Certificate to prepare you for a wide range of undergraduate courses.

Kaplan International College and BU work very closely and students who are studying on the BU International Foundation Certificate at Kaplan International College have the opportunity to gain some experience of the BU learning environment through campus visits. You will also have access to our excellent facilities, including University Accommodation, The Sir Michael Cobham Library and the Sports facilities. As a BU student, you will also be able to participate in many of the University's activities run by the International Students' Association and the Students' Union.

During your studies at Kaplan International College, you will have the opportunity to find out about the many undergraduate courses that BU offers and which the BU International Foundation Certificate prepares you for.

Entry to the BU International Foundation Certificate is based on you achieving a High School qualification (typically after 12 years of schooling) and an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.0 (5.5 for some pathways) or equivalent.

Please note that entry to most of the courses listed above is dependent on you studying specific specialist options and achieving a particular pass grade, as well as a specific IELTS score. For all courses, an application to a BU course needs to be made via UCAS, and for some courses in the Media School, an interview or portfolio may be required before an offer is made. If you successfully pass the BU International Foundation Certificate and progress to a degree course at BU, you will have the opportunity to take part in the International Students' Orientation Programme (ISOP) which we offer to all new international students and which helps you settle into your new learning environment.
