Preparatory Programmes

Bournemouth University (BU) offers a range of pre-sessional programmes for new international students to help you prepare for your studies here.

Pre-sessional Study Skills Programme (PSSP)

Improve your English language ability and study skills in preparation for undergraduate or postgraduate study at BU with an intensive 3-week PSSP course starting in September 2012.

Bournemouth University Preparatory English Programme (BUPEP)

BU offers preparatory English programmes to help students prepare for selected undergraduate and postgraduate programmes starting at BU in September 2012 and January 2013.

Our experience suggests that students who have spent time in England, developing the necessary language and study skills before starting their chosen programme, have a real advantage both academically and culturally.

Bournemouth University International Foundation Certificate (BUIFC)

BU offers the opportunity to study an International Foundation Certificate at one of our local partner institutions, Kaplan International College. This foundation year will help you prepare fully for a wide range of our undergraduate courses.

If you have fewer than 13 years of schooling with a high school diploma or school leaving certificate, it is likely that you will need to take a year-long foundation course before you can begin your undergraduate degree.

Other International Foundation Certificates formally recognised by Bournemouth University

We also formally recognise the International Foundation Certificates at the following colleges in Bournemouth:
