International Foundation Courses
BU offers its own International Foundation Certificate, in association with Kaplan International College, Bournemouth. This course enables progression onto most of BU's undergraduate courses and, as students on the course are registered as full student members of BU , it offers the full range of services and facilities available to BU's students.
Progression from the IFC to approved BU degree courses is through an established pathway – both the grades on the IFC and the IELTS score you will need to achieve will be set out clearly on your offer letter once you have applied for a BU course.
However, BU also officially recognises a number of foundation courses offered by other providers. Students taking these courses will be able to meet with BU staff at various times throughout their studies and applications for BU's degree courses will be processed quickly as there is a clear pathway into BU's courses.
If you are studying a foundation course at one of the following schools or colleges, and you apply for an eligible BU course, you will be issued with an offer letter stating the academic grades and IELTS score you need to achieve to progress to BU:
- Bournemouth and Poole College
- Bournemouth Business School International (BBSI)
- Chichester College
- MLS International College, Bournemouth
These schools and colleges, along with many others which offer foundation courses, are official representatives of BU and have staff available to help you make your application to BU.
If you are studying on a foundation course at a school which is not listed here, you can still apply to study a degree course at BU but you will need to provide details of your course along with your completed application.
