Pius Abu

MSc Advanced Software Engineering

International student from Nigeria

After completing a BSc in Computing and Internet Technology at BU, Pius Abu is now studying for an MSc in Advanced Software Engineering.

I decided to remain at BU because I knew from first-hand experience how knowledgeable the University's academics are. Then, when I asked some friends at other universities about their experiences, I didn't think I could do any better than BU.

Pius wanted to develop his interest in IT and BU offered him the perfect degree to suit his experience and aspirations: "When I applied, I hoped to have the support of the academics so I could adapt to the style of education and assessment in the UK. Communication between academics and students is first-class and they have always demonstrated an eagerness to help, especially towards international students."

Pius chose BU because of its outstanding facilities for postgraduate students, its proximity to the UK's stunning coastline and the fact that Bournemouth is home to a vibrant mix of locals and people from all over the world. "Personally, it has given me a glimpse of how those from different cultures, races and beliefs handle various life situations," he explains.

A degree from BU prepares you for your future career, as Pius confirms: "After two years here, I am raring to go out and put to good use all I have learnt. Studying at BU has built up my confidence levels dramatically. I've had the ability to meet all the academic challenges I've faced. I therefore feel I'm equipped to deal with whatever challenges I might face in the world of work!"
