Ratih Adi Hapsari

MSc Finance with Risk Management

Ratih knew what she was looking for in a postgraduate degree and she found just what she was looking for at BU: “coming from an engineering field, I wanted to explore a career in Finance and BU offers the ideal postgraduate course: MSc Finance with Risk Management.”

I chose Bournemouth University due to its reputation as the best New University. I wanted a postgraduate degree with a more practical and hands-on experience rather than theoretical coursework and BU gave me that and more.

Postgraduate study is a big commitment for any student but Ratih is confident her studies will pay off in the competitive job market: “Risk Management is one of the most sought after skills/qualifications in the financial/banking industry at the moment and I hope by completing this postgraduate study, I can have an edge over other candidates in the job market.”

Settling into a new town and country can take a while. However, Ratih has made friends by joining the Indonesian Society, one of the many groups and societies set up by students, and taking part in fun days. She also continues: “Bournemouth itself is a great place to study as the town is safe and laid back, although just a short train journey away from London. The living costs are much cheaper than the big cities but most importantly, there are lots of shops selling my favourite food from home.”

Ratih's final piece of advice to prospective postgraduate students is: “Enjoy every moment of it, it's a blast!”
