School of Tourism
Talbot Campus
Our degrees are aimed at UK, EU and international students from a wide range of backgrounds. The strengths of the degrees are the diversity of the student experience we provide, our study support facilities and our expert academic team. We are experts in the contemporary tourism sector, encompassing hospitality, retail, leisure, sports and events. Most our graduates get jobs as soon as they leave the University and our alumni are working for compainies and organisations throughout the world.
Five reasons to study at the School of Tourism:
- The Guardian University Guide 2009 & 2010 judged Tourism at Bournemouth as first and second in the country (respectively), and also judged Sport at BU as second in the country in 2010
- We have over 1,800 students, of which 230 are postgraduate and 50 are phd students
- Our staff have been at the forfront of quality research for many years and are held in high regard, both nationally and internationally
- We are home to two international journals in the field of tourism: Tourism Economics and the International Journal of Tourism Research (considered essential reading for Tourism degrees worldwide).
- We are also home to three reputed research centres: International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality research, The Market Research Group and the newest being the Centre for Event and Sport Research. this multidisciplinary centre focuses on events, sport and retail with recent work exploring sport participation and spectatorship and sport tourism.
