How to Apply

You will need to ensure that you are aware of all relevant deadlines in connection with your application and both the academic and non-academic entry requirements for the course you are interested in.

UK/EU Students - full-time Undergraduate courses

If you are looking to study a full-time undergraduate course, you must apply through UCAS.

Deadlines for September 2012 entry for UK/EU students

Although the official UCAS entry deadline passed on 15 January 2012, applications received at UCAS up until 30 June 2012 will still be considered if we have availability for the course(s) you have selected and you anticipate reaching the entry requirements. Contact us to discuss availability for your course of interest.

Applications received after 30 June 2012 will automatically be put into Clearing.

Please see the UCAS flowchart (pdf - 132 kb) which details the application process and deadlines.

Please see the UCAS website for more information about applying through UCAS.

Once an offer has been made, we would appreciate receiving your decision as soon as possible. If you wish to withdraw your application, please let us know immediately as you may delay or deny other prospective students the opportunity of obtaining a place at BU.

If you do not have any offers or decline the offers you have received, you can use UCAS Extra between 24 February 2012 and 4 July 2012 to apply to courses with vacancies.

Deferring entry

If you want to take a year out before starting your course you can apply for deferred entry to September 2013. You still need to apply within the deadlines specified above and will need to have satisfied any conditions of offer by 31 August 2012.

If you accept a place starting in September 2013, you cannot reapply through UCAS in the 2013 cycle unless your original application is withdrawn. You can only defer once using your original application.

UK/EU Students - part-time Undergraduate courses

Applications for certain part-time undergraduate courses may be submitted and tracked electronically by you via BU's Online Applications system (please see Course Search for course eligibility). If your chosen course does not accept online applications, or you do not have regular access to a computer connected to the internet, you can download, complete and submit a paper copy BU Direct Application form.

International (Non-EU) Students

BU has an International Admissions Team that is dedicated to ensuring your application is dealt with efficiently and quickly. The team will be able to keep you up-to-date with the status of your application.

BU works in partnership with official representatives in a number of different countries. Our representatives can help you complete your application form and answer general questions about studying at BU.

Deadlines for September 2012 entry for International (non-EU students)

You are encouraged to apply by 15 January 2012. Applications received at UCAS after this date, up until 30 June 2012, will only be considered where there are still vacancies.

Students from Nigeria

To ensure that we are able to deal efficiently with the increase in interest in BU, all enquiries and applications from Nigerian students are now processed by our representatives in Nigeria, British Canadian International Education (BCIE).

How do I provide evidence of my qualifications?

Please do not send original transcripts along with your application, we only require copies to assess applications. Should you be successful in your application, you will need to present your original documents at enrolment. We will not be held liable for loss of original documentation sent during the admissions process.
