Academic Achievement Scholarship

We believe that outstanding academic achievement deserves to be recognised. Bournemouth University is pleased to offer Academic Achievement Scholarships to those applicants entering with outstanding qualifications relevant to their course. This section outlines the support we are offering to 2012 entrants. If you are currently a student studying here, please refer to the Student portal for information.
Which nationalities may apply for this scholarship?
Applicants subject to pay the full fee at the UK/EU rate or eligible to be funded by the NHS may apply.
To which courses does this scholarship apply?
- All BU full-time undergraduate Honours courses (with the exception of Top-Up courses and courses offered at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic -AECC)
- Only students paying BU the full tuition fee or having their full fees paid by the NHS can apply. Therefore part-time students are not eligible.
What are the criteria for this scholarship?
We award Academic Merit Scholarships as follows:
- £3,000 - if you achieve three Grade A's at A Level, 3 Distinctions at BTEC National Diploma or other equivalent qualifications. BU will award you with this scholarship on your first year of study (Level C) on an Undergraduate Honours course (that is not funded by the NHS).
- £1,500 - if you achieve two Grade A's and one Grade B at A Level or other equivalent qualifications. BU will award you with this scholarship on your first year of study (Level C) on an Undergraduate Honours course (that is not funded by the NHS).
- £1,000 - if you achieve three Grade A's at A Level, 3 Distinctions at BTEC National Diploma or other equivalent qualifications. BU will award you with this scholarship on your first year of study (Level C) on a course that is funded by the NHS, or our FdSc Paramedic Science course.
At present we do not offer Academic Achievement Scholarships to applicants holding an Access Course qualification.
EU qualifications will be assessed for equivalency using NARIC.
How is this scholarship paid?
Scholarships are paid by cheque.
How many scholarships are awarded annually?
There is no limit to the number of Academic Achievement Scholarships awarded in any one year; all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be awarded one scholarship for the first year (Level C) of their degree.
Other information about this scholarship
Recipients of this scholarship cannot be in receipt of any other BU scholarship.

Deadlines
September 2012 entry - The deadline for applications is 16 November 2012 although you can apply any time from 15 March 2012 with your predicted grades.
When will I hear if I have been successful?
Although we may contact you with a decision in principle based on any predicted grades, your award will not be formally approved until you hold an unconditional firm offer. If your application is successful, you will be notified by letter from mid-August 2012 onwards.
