Bournemouth Square is the centre of Bournemouth’s pedestrianised shopping district, adjacent to the award-winning pleasure gardens and just minutes from the beach. Shoppers are well catered for in Bournemouth, where high street favourites exist alongside independent stores and stylish boutiques. In the evenings Bournemouth really comes to life with bars, bistros, nightclubs, restaurants and concerts.
The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and the Pavilion Theatre attract leading names from the world of entertainment and music. Top acts and London shows come to Bournemouth so you will have the chance to see world famous plays, musicals and ballets on your doorstep. In nearby Poole, the Lighthouse is one of the largest arts complexes outside of London and is famed for its wide variety of shows, concerts, films and exhibitions. With two cinemas in Bournemouth town centre, and a multiplex and arts cinema in Poole, you’ll have a great choice of films whatever your tastes.
Bournemouth & Poole are perhaps most famous for the seven miles (12 kilometres) of safe golden sandy beaches, an ideal place to spend a hot sunny day. You can take part in just about every watersport imaginable, including windsurfing, water-skiing, sailing, paragliding, jet-skiing and of course surfing. The less energetic among you can simply relax by the sea, soak up the atmosphere and take in the stunning scenery in one of the many cafes and restaurants on the coastline.
