Talbot Campus locations

The Talbot Campus is located about two miles from the centre of Bournemouth, just inside the boundary for Poole.

Poole House Entrance

This is the main entrance to the Talbot Campus. Subsidised buses run regularly from here to the Lansdowne Campus.

Poole House Reception

The main reception point for Talbot Campus is in Poole House. Behind sit the Library, Kimmeridge House, Christchurch House, Dorset House, Weymouth House, Tolpuddle House and several lecture theatres as well shops, bank, art gallery, cyclist facilities and car parking.

Jumbucks Café

Jumbucks is part of the main student refectory in Poole House, on our Talbot Campus. It is an ideal place to meet friends for social or working lunches, and has computer and internet access available.

The "Horseshoe"

This central open area is located at the hub of the buildings on Talbot Campus and is a good meeting and eating place in the summer.

Library Entrance

The Library and Learning Centre is a new facility for Bournemouth University , opened in January 2003. It has over 440 study spaces, 200 computers, over 2,200 books and over 2,500 journals.

Library

The four floors of the new Library and Learning Centre provide an integrated spectrum of services including computing, learning support, disability support, library, video editing suite, learning design studio, staff development and language centre.

Allsebrook Lecture Theatre

This tiered theatre is adjacent to the Library on the Talbot Campus. It has a large stage, seats 120 people and is also used for cinema screenings. There are several lecture theatres on both campus locations, all equipped with modern facilities.

Gym

The gym is situated on the Talbot Campus, within the Sports and Recreation Department. It has a large selection of cardio machines and weight training equipment, and a dedicated free weights room.

Climbing Wall

The Hot Rocks climbing wall on the Talbot Campus is seven metres high. It's made of freeform sculptured fibreglass and provides a realistic climbing surface for all levels of ability, with over 40 routes available.

Dylan's Bar

Run by the Students' Union, Dylan's Bar offers a selection of hot foods, as well as being a venue for live gigs and DJs.

Student Centre

Based on the Talbot Campus, the Student Centre (Talbot House) - contains the Medical Centre, Accommodation Service, Student Counselling Services and the Chaplaincy. It also houses the purpose-built Talbot Woods Day Nursery.

Student House

A communal kitchen and living area in one of the Student Village houses on the Talbot Campus.

Student Village

Adjacent to the Talbot Campus, this consists of 3, 4, 5 and 7 bedroom houses for 250 students, and a new 28-studio apartment building for postgraduates. Other University-owned accommodation includes purpose-built Cranborne House, the more traditional Hurn House and the brand new Purbeck House at the Lansdowne Campus.
