Adult Nursing is concerned with promoting the health of the adult population, and caring for and supporting adults who are physically unwell in a variety of settings, e.g. in the community, in care homes and in hospitals.
Adult Nurses are the primary point of contact for clients, their families and significant others, providing an essential role in educating and advising on how to facilitate self-care and independence. They are knowledgeable and skilled practitioners competent to practice in a variety of settings. In situations where clients are unable to engage fully in self-care, Adult Nurses work to empower clients by discussing care and treatment options to ensure they can make informed choices.
As well as playing a key role in health promotion, Adult Nurses are central to the management of the ill health/disease of vulnerable adults by either providing direct care or participating in interprofessional teams whose responsibility it is to ensure the effective delivery of essential nursing care.
Adult Nursing affords a dynamic and exciting career option that is fulfilling and rewarding.
