The GP Centre is the "area office" for Dorset of the Wessex Deanery. We are based in Royal London House at Bournemouth University and have been able to build and have links with other Primary Care Educational Teams within the University.

The GP Centre is responsible for the management, provision and support of all aspects of Postgraduate GP Education that occurs in Dorset.

Here at the General Practitioners Website we aim to provide an easily accessible guide to all aspects of General Practice education and a activities in Dorset. The site is divided into a number of key areas including GP Education, What's On and our Address book.

GP Training
To become a general practitioner (GP) and receive your “Certificate of Completion of Training” (CCT) from PMETB the trainee will usually, following their foundation year programmes (special training programme of 2 years following medical graduation from university), complete a further 18 to 24 months in hospital posts followed by up to 18 months in a general practice attachment. The GP Centre is responsible for the management, supervision and development of the vocational training schemes across Dorset, which includes acute hospital trusts in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and St Annes.
