Midwifery : BSc (Hons) Midwifery Practice

Today's maternity services appear to be in a state of flux which offers challenges and opportunities for midwives caring for women and their families. The main issues therefore woven throughout all the units of this innovative programme are public health, the political agenda, and the evidence base to practice relevant to today's maternity services. Whilst there are three compulsory units, all others are optional which along with the access by individual merit rather than a fixed level of academic credit, makes this programme extremely flexible and ideal for individual needs.

of mothers and babies

The steeply rising caesarean rate, now a major public health issue, has placed a re-evaluation of midwifery and maternity care firmly centre stage. Bournemouth University offers a choice of two exciting post-registration degrees for qualified midwives, both aimed at developing the midwifery profession to its full potential and thereby improve the well-being of mothers and babies.
