Date: 10 – 11 November 2011
Venue: Executive Business Centre, Lansdowne Campus, Bournemouth University, BH8 8EB.

This will be an introductory workshop on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). It will cover the theoretical underpinnings of IPA and then go through the stages of conducting an IPA study: design, data collection, analysis, writing up.

The workshop will include practical exercises so that by the end of it participants should feel able to conduct a study using the approach.

Who should attend

The workshop will primarily be of interest to postgraduate students and researchers in the human, health and social sciences who are new to IPA and wish to know more about it and how they might use it for their research.

Benefits of attending

This introductory session will allow all participants to explore the methodology in large and small groups and individually. As such, structured presentations will be alternated with dialogues and discussions in response to participant interest. The class provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience from a leading authority in the field and also allows time for participants to network amongst their colleagues.

Please note: This masterclass is validated by Bournemouth University at Masters level (20 academic credits), and participants have the option to gain these credits by undertaking additional assignment work. These credits can contribute to the Centre of Qualitative Research MA in Professional Practice (Qualitative Research)
