Post Qualifying Social Work Publications

7 July 2008

Keith Brown Research at the Centre for Post Qualifying Social Work is co-ordinated by Keith Brown, the Centre’s Director.

Recent projects for Skills for Care include the study of the professional development needs of internationally qualified social workers; tracking the learning and development needs of newly qualified social workers; and the scoping and development of a regional post-qualifying leadership and management pathway. We are also currently involved in a project to develop the participation of people who use services and carers in the design, delivery and assessment of learning and development provision for the social care workforce in the South West region.  In addition, we publish annually a survey of trends and funding in the local government social care workforce for Learn to Care, alongside a Directory of Good Practice in Social Care Workforce Development.

All of the staff at the Centre are involved in research in some form, including contributing to bids and tenders, being part of a project team, writing for peer-reviewed journals and specialist press, and presenting at national and international conferences; and Keith Brown is the series editor for Learning Matters’ post-qualifying social work practice series.
