Nursing

The Nursing academic group at Bournemouth University is committed to high quality, flexible, life long learning; which reflects the local and national population needs. The Academic Group focuses on working with service partners and users of services and forging collaborative partnerships with other professional groups in health and social care. The Academic Group is keen to ensure a quality student experience. They are committed to supporting their students towards successful employment at point of Registration and beyond throughout their working lives, in their academic pursuits.

The Group is highly responsive to service and stakeholder needs by developing a range of innovative education programmes from pre registration to post graduate level. They are a very enthusiastic team who have a rounded portfolio of professional nursing expertise, teaching excellence, research and enterprise.

The philosophy that underpins our practice and education provision is one of person centred care, We strive to develop empowered practitioners who provide evidence based, cost effective services. The four branches of pre registration nursing education work collaboratively with colleagues in social care, social work, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, Operating Department Practice and paramedic science to provide a range of interprofessional education opportunities at all levels. It is anticipated that this interprofessional working will encourage current and future practitioners to embrace the NHS ongoing modernisation agenda towards achieving a workforce fit for purpose.
