Occupational Therapy: Ideas for potential cross-school research collaboration

OT Week Logo

Occupational Therapy week comes hot on the heels of the launch of the new Research Centre the Centre for Wellbeing and Quality of Life (CeWQoL).

This University wide centre aims to apply research on wellbeing and quality of life to directly enhance that of the local population including BU Staff and Students. The everyday work of Occupational Therapists fits naturally within this centre due to the link between occupations and health and wellbeing. But potential research relevant to the other Research Centres within the university could equally impact upon our work.

The Business School - Disability, Diversity and Equality in the workplace / Workplace ergonomics / Management of Stress

School of Health and Social Care - Qualitative experience of occupations pre/post illness or disability / Multi-disciplinary and Multi-agency working to improve outcomes for patients / Review of interprofessional education / Occupational Science research / The experience of occupation in pregnancy

The Media School - Representation of disability in the media / Accessibility of media formats

School of Design, Engineering & Computing - Accessible design / The use of computer simulation in and for healthcare / Assistive technologies to aid participation in occupation

School of Services Management - Market Research to include participation in activities or occupations / Paralympics event management / Accessibility of Tourist attractions and accommodation

School of Conservation Sciences - The effects of the natural environment on health and wellbeing / How occupation can inform Forensic Science, Archaeology and Anthropology
