FAQs

Some Answers to Possible Queries...

I have completed the PQ1 under the old framework. Can I still complete my Specialist Award?

Yes, there is provision within the Bournemouth programmes to recognise the PQ1 qualification. However, some additional work may need to be completed depending on

a) The academic credits awarded with the PQ1 programme you completed

b) The area of practice you were working in when you undertook the PQ1, particularly if your area of specialism has changed.

For further guidance according to individual circumstances, please contact a member of the PQSW team.

Can I receive financial support towards these programmes?

If your employer is not providing you with financial support towards these programmes, or you are working freelance, you should contact your local Learning Resource Network (LRN) who may be able to provide financial support.

I have recently completed my Social Work degree. How soon can I apply to undertake the Specialist Award?

You may apply to undertake the specialist award at any time after qualifying. You will need to consider support for funding, (normally your employer, but see question 2 above ) and also ensure that you are working within the area of practice that you wish to remain in to undertake the specialist award.
