The Social Work and Learning Disabilities academic group is a dynamic and creative amalgam of core areas within these professional disciplines and championing the way forward in learning disability education for future and existing practitioners in the region. The academic group seeks to instil a thirst for knowledge and research-mindedness in its students believing that this best serves the needs of those who use social work or learning disability services.
The three teams within the academic group provide professional qualifying awards and high quality academic awards in social work and learning disability nursing, and highly regarded post-qualifying social work education. The centre for post-qualifying social work is pioneering responses to the revised national framework for post-qualifying social work education.
Situated in the town centre on the Lansdowne campus, the teams reflect the vibrancy of the student culture and aim to provide the highest quality student experience, grounded in the latest scholarship and research within the disciplines.
